YOU CAN HARLEY MISS IT

IF you can't make it to Skerries next weekend and you're a fan of American machinery, then you could do worse than heading for Waterford this Saturday, when Harley-Davidson Waterford is holding its first annual open day.

You can take advantage of dealership discounts before joining in the journey along the stunning Waterford coastline.

Discounts have been applied to various models throughout the five Harley-Davidson families. Light refreshments will be available at the Ozier Park premises before the ride-out departs the showrooms at 2.30pm.

Waterford Harley-Davidson wants all riders to take part, no matter what bike they ride.

The journey will end at the Haven Hotel in Dunmore East, where riders will be entertained by local Waterford band The Unusual Suspects.

Guests will also be able to ask the Harley-Davidson team for details on the newest Sportster model, which was launched only last month.

The new Superlow is due to arrive in the Waterford showroom in late September.

ROAD WARRIORS

Cream will rise to top at Killalane as elite tussle for the ultimate accolade

RED-HOT RYAN: Farquhar at last year’s event ROAD racing fans are buzzing with excitement as they get set for some late-season action at the Killalane Road Races in Skerries, north Co. Dublin next weekend.

The cream of Irish road racing riders - including Ryan Farquhar, Keith Amor and many more - will be thrilling the crowds in the final meeting of the 2010 road racing calendar.

Competition in the newly established 'Best of the Best' Trophy is close, with Farquhar and the Flying Scot Amor both holding 27 points after the Skerries 100 first round.

Michael Dunlop currently trails in third place with 20 points, with brother William holding onto sixth place.

Ray Kerr, Loughshinny Club PRO and sponsor of the Best of the Best Trophy, is looking forward to this coming weekend's action.

Ray, a Scotsman who has lived in Ireland for 12 years, is torn between supporting fellow Scotsman Keith Amor or Dungannon man
Ryan Farquhar to pick up the trophy.

Respect

"I have great respect for all of the riders who compete in the great sport of pure road racing here in Ireland," says Ray.

"Ryan and Keith are particular favourites of mine - they are both great guys and great competitors. If I'm honest it would be great to
hand over the first-place trophy to a fellow Scotsman.

"The great thing for me is there are three very unique trophies I'm having made for first, second, and third places, so on the day I'll get the chance to honour three great riders."

The 2010 Country Crest Killalane Road Races take place over two days - roads close from 1pm to 7pm on Saturday, September 11, and from 10am to 6.30pm on Sunday, September 12.

Race practice and qualifying is on the Saturday, culminating with a day of world class racing on Sunday.
