WE'LL FIND YOUR TRUE LOVE
Join our dating service to meet someone special
By NAOISE WOLSEY
IT'S a quest as old as time itself, but the search for true love
has maybe never been as tricky as in the hectic 21st century.
Between juggling careers and spending much of our time on our
own in cars getting from A to B, many of us have become too
busy for love.
On top of that, the changing face of traditional meeting
places like pubs and nightclubs have made it even harder
for sparks to fly across a crowded room.
Add to that the pressures of modern living and career
building and it's easy to see why more people are turning
to dating services to locate that man or woman of
their dreams.
For years the Sunday World personal ads have
been matching lonely hearts all over Ireland.
But our relaunched Sunday World dating pages
have caused a sensation and are being flooded
with messages from men and women who
are looking for love.
The feedback from satisfied customers
has been incredible, proving that many
of us are struggling to meet people the
old-fashioned ways.
"About 70 per cent of the letters
I get are from people who say
they are feeling lonely," says Sunday
World agony Aunt Maura O'Neill.
"Whether they are just out of a relationship
or haven't been in one for a
very long time, people are always asking
me how they can meet other people.
"The small ads are very traditional
but I think they're still very relevant
and a great way for people who are shy or
having trouble with dating to get themselves
out there in a safe way."
And it's not just 20-somethings who are
relying on a little help with their love life.
Ads appearing in the paper on any given
day feature ages ranging from people in
their 20s to people in their 60s, proving
the dating scene can be difficult at any
time of life.
There are ads from busy professionals,
widows and widowers who
are finding it difficult to start playing
the field again, and single
mums whose hands are full enough
trying to balance work and kids,
never mind a love life on top of
that.
And while you may not instantly
fall head over heels in love with
your first date - in fact, there's
every chance you won't - there is a
possibility that you might strike it
lucky, or at least have some fun and
good conversation along the way.
Fancy
Signing up is free and after that
there are thousands of ads to
peruse at your leisure until you find
one that takes your fancy.

Testimonials
One lucky singleton who placed a
personal ad with Sunday World Dating
was so happy with the results
that she doesn't plan on placing any
more ads in the future.
"Please can you remove me from
this service as I have met someone
and we have gone on our first date?
"We have found out that we have
so much in common it is quite scary,
and we will be seeing each other
again soon.
"Thank you for helping me find
my perfect person. I hope that there
will be some more lucky people
who find their perfect person."
And another user who also wishes
to remain anonymous wrote to the
service to tell them of her extraordinary
success with the site.
"Just like to say a big thank you.
We met through the service and are
getting married in July next year."
Irish couples have been getting set
up like this for decades, whether it
has been at the Lisdoonvarna matchmaking
festival, or with a service like
the Knock marriage bureau.
So, if you find yourself looking for
love in all the wrong places, or simply
not having the time to look at
all, you may be able to find your
very own Tarzan or Jane with the
help of an ad.
"How simple and effective. No
more trawling round pubs and
clubs, just sit at home and find your
match. Absolutely brilliant!" -
Janice.
