WHAT a pub. What a fantastic pub. The old boy said he remembered drinking a few pints in it many moons ago when he followed Shamrock Rovers to see them play Waterford at the then headquarters of Decies soccer, Kilcohan Park.
The young gun said that soccer had gone to the dogs as Kilcohan is now the rather classy home of greyhound racing in the port town. The Mansion House is an amazing establishment, where there seemed to be bars and counters everywhere.
Here is a watering hole that has everything: good drink, excellent food - or so the boys were told - spotless toilets and a comfortable outdoor smoking area at the side of the premises.
The pint of Uncle Arthur was creamy, inviting and quite tasty - a nice treat in a bar dominated by wooden counters and partitions.
On the words of the senior one: "A place with a bit of class." However, the pint cost €4 in an area that appears to be dominated by pubs that sell porter at bargain prices
